Chopper comes PACKAGED in the standard Droid Factory card, with its pseudo vintage feel. The front of the card has a nice render of old Chopper from the TV series, and the bubble shows off the figure and his accessories nicely. The back of the card has a basic little blurb about droids in the Star Wars Universe, and some basic information about Chopper's character. The back also has a really nice diagram of Chopper and all his gadgets and abilities, showing all the great little hidden features this droid has to offer.
Chopper's PAINT and SCULPT are absolutely top notch. The detail work on his front paneling is fantastic, with little exposed wires and misplaced cover. There's even some great attention to detail on his back where it would have been really easy to cut corners and save some costs. All the paint lines are great, very clean and consistent even and this scale. I wasn't able to pick out this figure myself, so this is a true random sample from the park. Disney's paint apps and quality control blow Hasbro's out of the water. I didn't realize how many cut corners there were with Hasbro's version from just a few short years ago.
This is one thing I never thought I'd say about an astromech; the ARTICULATION is incredible. When I first saw some promotional photos, I thought Chopper's retractable arms would be solid pieces that you'd be able to rotate around. I was completely wrong. His retractable arms each have 2 additional joints in them, giving you an enormous number of posing possibilities. Chopper's retractable arms give his something most astromech's don't have; the ability to emote. Even his front repair arm can swing out from it's housing so he can hack some imperial systems.
Chopper has all the other standard articulation you'd find in an astromech: swivel head, legs, and rocking feet. Although, the wires on his right leg (and bonus left) are pretty stiff while the rocking foot is a little loose. It can make it a little tricky to get ol' Chop in a classic 3 legged rolling pose. He even has little wheels on the bottom of his feet.
Chopper come packaged with some awesome ACCESSORIES. Not only does he come with his booster rocket, but he's also got his new left leg he picks up in the Season 2 episode The Forgotten Droid. It's a nice touch, and makes this Chopper figure the only one you'll ever have to buy. Chopper's arms and wheel are also all removable, giving you plenty of display options.
OVERALL, Disney has created an exceptional and definitive Chopper and as long as he's still in production there is no reason to buy another one. All of the extra little features help make this figure even better. All of the care and attention are greatly appreciated, and I applaud Disney for taking the extra step while most other companies are finding ways of cutting corners.
