Review - Star Wars Return of the Jedi Force Link 3-Pack Exclusive by Hasbro

The debate rages on between collectors, whether super articulated or 5 POA (points of articulation) figures are better. I usually find myself somewhere in the middle. While I do love The Vintage Collection, Hasbro has put out a lot of great 5 POA figures in the last couple of years. To me, scale is the most important factor when it comes to Star Wars figures, so I'll buy anything at 3 3/4 inches. The excellent sculpts have certainly helped the more limited articulation figures succeed, with figures like Jedi Master Luke Skywalker become fast favorites. Hasbro recently released the Return of the Jedi Force Link 3 Pack (Exclusive to Target and Canadian Tire) with some great modern updates. Lets crack it open and take a look!

Review - Pirates of the Caribbean Jack Sparrow SH Figuarts by BANDAI

This year saw the release of the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film, and while I think it was a great improvement over the fourth film it still didn't live up to the original trilogy. Luckily though, a new film means new merchandise! While there were Minimates, Pop Vinyls, and an enormous LEGO Pirate ship, I was most looking forward to the BANDAI SH Figuarts Jack Sparrow. I've picked up a few SH Figuarts over the last few years (Kylo Ren, First Order Stormtrooper, Captain Phasma, and Ant-Man) and have continuously been blown away with the exceptional quality. So lets go ahead and see if Jack Sparrow lives up to the hype.

Review - STAR WARS The Last Jedi Wave 2 Figures by Hasbro

We are now 2 week away from the release of Star Wars The Last Jedi and I could not be more excited. As much as I loved The Force Awakens, I felt like it wasn't the Star Wars movie we deserved but it was the one we needed. It needed to remind us of what we loved about Star Wars, while making a bold statement about what Star Wars will be moving forward. The Last Jedi on the other hand looks to be the  film we've all been waiting for (Edit: It's not), taking the saga in bold new directions and telling its own unique story. Well... hopefully.

Review - Justice League DC Multiverse Batman (Exclusive) by Mattel

Justice League finally hit theaters last week and it turned out to be a fun and entertaining superhero action movie. While fans and Critics are certainly divided I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, especially after the mess that was Batman v. Superman. With Wonder Woman earlier this year, and now Justice League hopefully Warner Bros. is on the right track to bringing us excellent films based on the classic DC Comics characters.

Retro Review - Universal Studios Monsters Kids' Meal Toys from Burger King

In the late 1990's, the classic Universal Studios Monsters experience a resurgence in popularity thanks to their home video re-release. At the same time they were featured as promotional toys in the Burger King Kids' meals and let me tell you, they are awesome. These toys were a big part of my introduction to, and love of the classic Monsters. Even though I only had The Wolf Man as a kid I can remember hunting for The Creature from the Black Lagoon, trying to trade a friend for a Dracula,  and finding Frankenstein later at a flea market. The 90's was a great time for fast food tie in toys and the Universal Monsters set is one of the most unexpected but welcomed collections ever released.

Review - Friday the 13th The Final Chapter Jason Figure by NECA

When it comes to Horror, I'm more of a Universal Monsters guy than a Slasher flick guy. But something changed this year with the release of Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game. I know what you're thinking but no, I haven't actually played these games myself. Instead, I've been watching a bunch of Let's Plays and Live Streams and have enjoyed every minute of them. They both function basically the same; a small group of people try to avoid and escape an area from a classic slasher icon.

Force Friday II - The Last Jedi Rey & Elite Praetorian Guard 2-Pack by Hasbro

It was recently announced that JJ Abrams is headed back to the galaxy far, far way and will be Writing and Directing STAR WARS Episode IX. While I'm a little disappointed a third director won't be putting his stamp on the final installment of the Sequel Trilogy, I'm happy to have JJ back to finish what he started. I think he did a phenomenal job with The Force Awakens, using familiar plot elements to introduce us to brand new characters while also bringing STAR WARS to a whole new generation of fans. With so much STAR WARS on the brain, today I'm going to take a look at the Rey & Elite Praetorian Guard 2-pack from The Last Jedi.

Force Friday II - STAR WARS The Last Jedi 3.75" Action Figures by Hasbro

Friday September 1st, 2017 marked the launch of all the new STAR WARS merchandise for the upcoming release of The Last Jedi. The line I'm always most interested in continues to be the 3.75" basic figure line, even if they only have 5 Points of Articulation. This is the scale that built the STAR WARS toy phenomenon; it allows for a great variety of characters and is the perfect scale for all manner of vehicles. Hasbro pulled out all the stops and released eleven different figures in the first two assortments of The Last Jedi line, nine of which seem to be all new sculpts. Today I'm going to give you the run down and take a quick look at all the figures released.

Review - Marvel Legends Daredevil and Punisher by Hasbro

Just in time for the release of The Defenders on Netflix, Hasbro unleashed their wave of Marvel Knights themed Marvel Legends. The wave showcases a great mix of both live action and comic designs, and features a great Build-a-Figure Man-Thing. Today I'm going to be taking a look at both Daredevil and The Punisher from the excellent live action series.

Review - STAR WARS The Force Awakens Captain Phasma SH Figuarts by BANDAI

One of the most anticipated new characters from The Force Awakens was the intimidating Captain Phasma, with her suit of metallic Stormtrooper armor she was one of the coolest new designs in the Sequel Trilogy. While she didn't have much screen time, the filmmakers were able to turn a throw away character into something that could become really special. Since the release of the movie nearly two years ago I've been able to pick up a handful of the SH Figuarts and today I'm going to be taking a look at the incredible Captain Phasma figure.

Review - Justice League Batman Action Figure by Mattel

The Justice League will finally unite on the big screen this November and with Wonder Woman smashing the box office earlier this year, DC and Warner Bros. are looking to repeat the success and finally get the DC Extended Universe on sure footing. Mattel looks to be releasing two separate lines of action figures for the films release; one under their DC Multiverse banner and another one targeted towards younger fans. Merchandise for the film has already begun to hit retail, and today I'm going to be taking a look at the Batman figure from the kids line.

Review - Marvel Legends Thor and Loki Ragnarok Figures by Hasbro

Thor and Hulk are hitting the road this coming November and it looks like it's going to be one wild ride. Thor: Ragnarok is the next big release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the filmmakers are absolutely trying something new. The first teaser trailer landed and blew everybody away. Shifting tones more towards something like Guardians of the Galaxy looks like it's going to pay off in a big way. With the film around the corner, the toys have started making their way to retail and today we're going to be taking a look at the Marvel Legends 6" versions of Thor and Loki.

Review - Marvel Legends Exclusive Invisible Woman by Hasbro

The Fantastic Four have had a rough couple of years. First their comic gets cancelled and then their big new movie flops with critics and audiences alike. Not quite the treatment you would expect for Marvel's First Family. Well, hopefully things are on the upward swing with Hasbro releasing a series of exclusive figures at Walgreens (EB Games up here in the great white north) starting with Sue Storm the Invisible Woman. I was a little hesitant at first to pick her up, but as soon as The Human Torch was announced I snatched one up as quick as I could. With the rumored Super Skrull figure, and Mr. Fantastic himself being announced at SDCC, all that awaits is the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing.

Review - Batman '66 Classic TV Series 3.75" Action Figures by Funko

A few years ago 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. finally struck a deal to bring the classic 1966 Batman TV series to Blu Ray and DVD and with it came a flood of glorious merchandise. Mattel did a great line of 6" scale figures a few years back and now it's Funko's turn. They just released their first wave of 3.75" action figures along with a scale Batmobile. Today we'll be looking at three figures from the initial release: Batman, Batgirl, and Catwoman.

Review - Star Wars The Black Series Tusken Raider 6" Figure by Hasbro

This year marked the 40th anniversary of Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope, a little film that changed the way we look at movies. The impact of Star Wars cannot be understated in both film history, and pop culture. Way back in 1977 a small independent toy company named Kenner produced the now legendary first twelve 3.75" action figures for Star Wars. The line quickly expanded, and defined the childhood of an entire generation. To commemorate this monumental event, Hasbro released The Black Series 40th Anniversary Collection, recreating those original 12 figures. One of those figures was the fearsome Tusken Raider and today we'll be taking a look at him in 6" form.

Review - Spider-man Homecoming 3.75" Spider-man & Vulture 2-Pack by Hasbro

Spider-man Homecoming hit theaters this week and I was able to check it out Thursday night in Imax and it is absolutely spectacular! Marvel Studios nailed it. Tom Holland is undoubltely the best big screen interpretation of Peter Parker and Michael Keaton as the Vulture is the best best Spider-man villain since Doc Ock. I cannot wait to see what what they do next. Hopefully they can finally bring back J. Jonah Jameson and the Daily Bugle, because we all want pictures of Spider-man!

Opinion - Build-a-Figures

Way back in 2005 Toy Biz first introduced the concept of the Build-a-Figure with wave 9 of their monumental Marvel Legends line of action figures. The concept was simple enough, each figure in the wave came with a piece of a character, collect all the toys in the wave an you've got yourself a bonus figure. Usually a character that would tower over the regular 6 inch figures. Toy Biz's first BAF character was none other than the devourer of worlds, Galactus.

Review - Spider-man Homecoming Homemade Suit Spider-man and Vulture Marvel Legends by Hasbro

The Spider-man Homecoming premier was held last night in Hollywood, and the reviews have started pouring in. By all accounts this is the best Spider-man movie since Spider-man 2 way back in 2004. This is great news, not only for the future of Spidey in film, but for Spider-man in the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. So today we're going to take a look at another couple of the Marvel Legends Homecoming figures; Homemade Suit Spider-man and the villainous Vulture.

Review - Spider-man Homecoming Marvel Legends Figure by Hasbro

Spider-man's first solo outing in the MCU is just a few short weeks away and Hasbro's Marvel Legends figures have started hitting retail in full force. Their latest series is Spider-man focused, but only has 3 figures based on actual designs from the movie. There's a standard Spider-man, a Homemade Suit Spider-man, and the villainous Vulture. I was going to review all three figures at once, but I think there's plenty to talk about each one so I'm going to start with standard Spidey tonight.

Review - Wonder Woman and Ares Collect & Connect DC Multiverse Figures by Mattel

Wonder Woman hit theaters a few weeks ago and by all accounts it's a genuine hit with critics and audiences alike. The film is full of humor, effective action, and great characters that you really end up feeling for. It's nice to finally have a true hero in the DCEU, with out all the pretentious nonsense. Hopefully DC and Warner Bros. can continue this trend into Justice League and the wider Extended Universe.

Review - Star Wars Droid Factory C1-10P "Chopper" Disney Parks Exclusive

One of the break out characters from Disney's Star Wars Rebels is the lovable, grumpy astromech C1-10P, also know as Chopper. He's the Bernard Black of droids, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Hasbro released a Chopper figure a few years ago in their poorly distributed Rebels line, but managed to re-release the figure in a The Force Awakens Versus 2-pack with Zeb. Now, Disney has stepped up to the plate and released an extraordinary Chopper in their Droid Factory assortment, only available at Disney Parks. With only his second figure ever, this Chopper is the definitive representation of every one's favorite cranky droid.

Review - Wonder Woman Diana of Themyscira and Steve Trevor DC Multiverse Figures by Mattel

Wonder Woman finally hits theaters this weekend and all signs point to it being a critical and financial success. After a rocky start it’s great to hear that the DC Extended Universe is on sure footing, especially with Justice League right around the corner. Mattel’s latest wave of DC Multiverse figures have been hitting for a while now so today I’m going to be taking a look at two of the central characters, Princess Diana (better known as Wonder Woman) and Steve Trevor.

Review - Star Wars Droid Factory R2-D2 & C-3PO Disney Parks Exclusive

This year at Star Wars Celebration, Disney announced a new assortment of Droid Factory figures; Protocol Droids were finally coming to Build-a-Droid. Meaning your custom Astromech could finally have its very own Protocol Droid buddy. At the same time they launched a number of new limited release action figures, one of these was a 40th Anniversary C-3PO & R2-D2 two-pack. Collectors had been asking Hasbro for these figures for years, and Disney finally stood up and made them a reality.

Review - Pirates of the Caribbean Jack Sparrow & Barbossa 2-Pack Disney Parks Exclusive

The Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy is an extraordinary series of films full of awesome action, incredible special effects, and some of the best film music of all time. Jack Sparrow has become a pop culture icon through his swashbuckling misadventures on the high seas. It’s one of my favorite film trilogies, up there with Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. Then they went and made a fourth one… Anyways, Jack Sparrow returns this summer in Dead Men Tell no Tales and I absolutely cannot wait to see it.

Review - Hellboy 3.75" ReAction Figures by Super7

In my opinion, the first Hellboy movie is the perfect comic to film translation. It’s not a straight up adaptation like Watchmen or Sin City, but makes fundamental changes that actually enhance the work. Building a relationship between Hellboy and Liz, strengthening the father son bond between Hellboy and Broom, and giving Abe mild psychic abilities so he’s more than just a fish-man. They used the comic as a base and only made it better. While it is disappointing that we’ll never see Hellboy 3, the recent news of a reboot is super exciting and I cannot wait to see what they do.

Review - Spider-man Homecoming 6" Action Figures by Hasbro

Spider-man has a new movie coming out this year and you know what that means, new toys! I was out at Toys “R” Us last week and stumbled upon pegs stuffed full of Hasbro’s kid oriented budget line of Homecoming figures so I grabbed a few. I believe there are 4 different figures in the first wave: Spider-man, Homemade suit Spider-man, Vulture, and a Tech-suit Spider-man which is a blue variant of the standard Spidey. I picked up the first three figures and will be taking a look at them today.
